my beautiful boy

i am blissfully in love with my son. he is the most wonderful person i have ever met in my life. he surprises me each day with new and exciting truths about he and my myself. so what's new in the world of maddox?

he has found his fingers and is capable of self-soothing from time to time. even though he never really took to a pacifier it's nice to have him be able to have a way to comfort himself while i'm comforting him.

he sits up on his own.

okay, well, for only a few moments at a time, but he loves it. he tries so hard to sit up and balance himself. this is most frustrating for mama and daddy in the tub. each time he tries to sit up he plants his heels and goes *swoop* *plop* almost ear deep in the baby tub. then he gets mad because he was sitting, well reclining and now he's flat. i sit him back up and he does it again. he'll learn. :)

he enjoys spending time with his BFF Georgianna 4 days a week. they share (most times) and play really well with each other. she is 3 months his senior and he is learning so many new things from her.

the very best news of all? SLEEP!!!! as of friday night, Maddox was waking anywhere from 4-9 times per night. he would sleep well for a night or two then right back to hi old habits. now i've never expect my 4 month old to sleep 9 hours straight, but the sleep deprivation from only get 1.5 hours at a time max was awful. our patience were thin and he was cranky. it was horrid.

so we tried something new. we moved from co-sleeping to his own crib in his room. his last night co-sleeping (friday) he woke 9 times in 10 hours. saturday night, his first night in his crib sleep went like this:

bed: 7:30p
wake: 11:30p
wake: 3:30p
up for day: 6:00a

sunday, monday, and last night he was down by 8pm, slept for 5-7 hours straight, woke once, and was back down until 6:30a when he awoke for the day.

it's been wonderful. he's happy, we're rested. i'm a bit sad, i really loved having him in bed but it was selfish to still co-sleep when this is working much, much better.

all in all, everything is just wonderful!
