short, short weekend

This was by far the shortest weekend of my life. The shortest. Friday night was an absolute blast. Adam Peck, a good friend of mine and a third of Team Adam, was home from LA for the first time since 2007. It’s been way too long since his last visit. It was nice to have him at the house. Rachel (), James, Matt, Matt’s girlfriend, Seth and Liz also stopped by to say hi.

We tossed back a few beers and some Van Gogh double espresso vodka. Had some good conversation, just like old times. Peck had to go meet Greg Diamond at the Tusk (the Blue Tusk is a fantastic, yet expensive, bar in Downtown) at 11pm and conveniently Seth was meeting Angkhane, Mikey Mosh, Naif and Cassie at the Tusk around 11:30pm. I decided to kidnap Rachel and took her downtown around 10pm to go see The Hideout (Caleb’s band) play at the Half Penny Pub. Enjoyed a Blue Moon (or two, thanks to Jesal) and tried to have a pint race with Caleb, which I failed, miserably.

I still drank my second WAAAAAY to fast and was more than tipsy by the time the show was over. Rachel and I eventually stumbled to the Tusk around 11:30? I can’t remember. That can’t be good. Anyway, hung out at the Tusk, bought Rachel, Angkhane and I a round of drinks (imperial pints!), called home around 1pm to let the hub know I would be home later than expected, then stumbled to Awful Al’s. Seth and I ended up splitting Angkahne’s dirty martini (which was HORRIBLE by the way) and after a few persistent text messages Rachel and I crashed a bachelor party and ended up back home around 4am.

Yeah, it was a long night in which Maddox woke promptly at 6am, like normal, and I slept through my market date with Jackie. I was a zombie all of Saturday. Sunday evening came and was insanely busy with cooking for way too many people. It started with just the in-laws and progressive moved to my BIL, my nephew, my BIL’s thing that he usually brings with him and her niece. My house is not built for 9 for dinner but we made it work.

Spent all of Sunday pampering (or at least trying to pamper) Adam. Made him buttermilk pancakes for breakfast, bought him a big cup, baked him a triple berry pie, made him his favourite dinner then passed out before I could give him an Austin Powers sensual mass-sagge. Oh! We also took Maddox to a playground that was way too wet and had a blast watching him splash through puddles and fly down wet slides.

Now it’s Monday again and I’m just counting the minutes till Friday.
